Report on the Grant to the Tung Wah Hospital.

R. N. Hospital,

Hong Kong,

18th April, 1890.

Sir,

In reply to your memo: of the 8th April as to the advisability of a further reduction of the Grant to the Tung Wah Hospital of Hong Kong, I have to report that since my last letters of 24th July and 23rd September, 1889, on the subject, I have several times visited the Hospital and attended the Examinations, making other enquiries on the subject. The examinations are still carefully conducted. The issue of Certificates to Women, of freedom from disease, after each Examination, which had been continued here after the cessation of the compulsory examinations, was stopped during the quarter, I am informed by the Colonial Surgeon that this has not prevented the

Commodore Edmund J. Church.
